Spring Summer 2016 Youthquake
Angel Chen Spring Summer 2016 collection is inspired by a new wave period called “Youthquake” prevalent in the 1960s and initiated by Diane Vreeland, editor-in-Chief of Vogue of the time. It was a cluster of new fashion, art and design powers stirring the creativity of the young generation. An integral movement shaping the world as it is today, an incubator for creative possibilities. This new collection plays on bold, bright colors, clashing fabrics and camouflage prints, whilst staying true to Chen’s eccentric character to create a collection for the punk and quirky characteristics of young people in today’s society.
The models started the show in hot pink, metallic bright with structured tailoring, contrasting with heavily knitted hat pieces and shawls in similarly bright colors. A mix of knitted sandals, chunky biker boots and sports socks were worn with the rebellious and playful SS16 collection.
